Connor Hellebuyck is having another incredible season, one that has made him the runaway favourite for the Vezina Trophy. There’s even a little bit of a conversation for the Hart Trophy, although with the candidates we have this season, that isn’t nearly as likely.

So, with one Vezina trophy to his name already in 2020, and another two times being named a finalist in 2018 and 2023, a win this season will put him in some elite company. He still has plenty of years to go, but Hellebuyck is already carving out a case to maybe get some consideration for the Hall of Fame as well.

Carter Hutton joined Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk on Daily Faceoff Live to talk about Hellebuyck’s case for a Hall of Fame induction when his career is over.

Carter Hutton: I think at this point Hellebuyck is on track for the Hall of Fame, honestly. With how consistent he’s been, with a career .917% save percentage, especially now that you’re looking at the average save percentage in the league down to I think .903%, and what he does year in year out, and he plays a lot of minutes. So for me, he is definitely on that track.

I’m glad that he stayed with the Jets, because I felt like if he would have left and signed a contract somewhere else, maybe that tarnishes it a little bit. I think for him, the next step for the Hall of Fame conversation is to have a deep playoff run and take this team over the top to a Stanley Cup.

Frank Seravalli: So this would be his second Vezina Trophy, he’s been a finalist twice as well so this would be the fourth time he’d be a finalist. So pretty elite company when you start getting into multiple Vezinas to at least advance that conversation.
