Coyotes put All-Star vote leader John Scott on waivers again

There quite possibly isn't a player in the National Hockey League having a more bizarre season than John Scott.

The six-foot-eight bruiser might be leading the NHL All-Star voting, but that didn't stop the Arizona Coyotes from placing him on waivers for the second time this season, Mike Halford of NBC Sports reported on Friday morning.

Scott was previously waived in early October but cleared them with Arizona's intention of bouncing him back and forth between the Coyotes and their AHL affiliate in Springfield without having to be waived again, Halford reported.

Being waived by the same team within just a couple months isn't the weirdest thing to happen to the 33-year-old winger this season. Scott, who has five goals in 280 games played in the league, has been leading in the All-Star game fan votes — which is very interesting given how much flack the guy gets from hockey fans. Heck, he couldn't do anything right by Sharks fans during his one season in San Jose.

Some have called the voting "mean-spirited." Scott himself has handled the shenanigans quite well, issuing a statement asking that the votes go to some of his Coyotes teammates instead.

There hasn't been any word yet what his reaction is to being waived a second time this season.

So far in the 2015-2016 campaign, Scott has one point, an assist, and 23 penalty minutes in nine games played.
