Coyotes sign Alex Galchenyuk to one-year deal

Forward Alex Galchenyuk is back with the Arizona Coyotes.

Arizona general manager Bill Armstrong announced Wednesday the club has signed Galchenyuk to a one-year deal. While the Coyotes did not confirm the specifics about the contract, TSN hockey insider Darren Dreger reported late Tuesday night the agreement is worth $750,000.

"We are very pleased to sign Alex," Armstrong said for the official release. "He is a versatile, skilled forward who works hard and has earned a spot on our roster. He will be a good addition to our team."

Galchenyuk played for the Coyotes during the 2018-19 season and recorded 19 goals and 22 assists across 72 games. He spent time with both the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs last season and accumulated a total of five goals and eight assists in 34 regular-season contests, with one goal and three assists in six postseason matchups.

Galchenyuk has also played for the Minnesota Wild, Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens during his NHL career that began when Montreal drafted him in the first round back in 2012. In 583 career regular-season games, the 27-year-old has tallied 140 goals and 193 assists for 333 points.
