David Pastrnak made unique history in Bruins' record-setting win

The Boston Bruins put an exclamation point on one of the most remarkable seasons in NHL history on Sunday, earning yet another significant accolade.

Boston clinched victory No. 63 following a 5-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers, setting a single-season NHL record. Unsurprisingly, the Eastern Conference powerhouse has seen several contributors step up throughout the season, but star David Pastrnak led the charge on Sunday, producing an outing he'll likely remember forever.

Finishing with a game-high four points, on a hat-trick and an assist, Pastrnak also reached some personal milestones in the Bruins' historic victory. The 26-year-old reached the 60-goal mark for the first time and also netted career goal No. 300 on Sunday.

According to the NHL PR department, Pastrnak is only the fourth player in NHL history to score their 60th goal of the season via a hat-trick, joining Wayne Gretzky and the late Mike Bossy.

Pastrnak also became the eighth player to reach the 300-goal plateau via a hat-trick and the first since Ray Whitney in 2009.

On the year, Pastrnak has recorded 109 points (60 goals, 49 assists) in 80 games.

The Bruins have now won six games in a row, improving to an NHL-best 63-12-5. Boston has a 22-point advantage over the Carolina Hurricanes (50-20-9), who own the league's second-best mark.

Boston's history-making win helped them overtake the previous record-holders, the 1995-96 Detroit Red Wings and the 2018-19 Tampa Bay Lightning, who both tallied 62-win seasons.

While the Bruins' focus is now on the upcoming postseason, they still have two regular season games remaining to further their record.

Boston will take on the Washington Capitals (34-36-7) on Tuesday in their regular season home finale before ending the season on the road Thursday against the Montreal Canadians (31-43-6).
