David Pastrnak ties Jaromir Jagr's record with fourth-straight Czech Player of Year Award

Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak took home the Golden Hockey Stick as the Czech Player of the Year for the fourth consecutive season, the NHL announced Thursday.

Pastrnak now is tied with former Pittsburgh Penguins star Jaromir Jagr for the most consecutive victories. He earned 51 of 52 first-place votes from Czech hockey journalists and coaches. Chicago Blackhawks rookie Dominik Kubalik came in second and Philadelphia Flyers star Jakub Voracek ranked third.

"I want to hold a cup for the world champions and a Stanley Cup above my head," Pastrnak said, according to NHL.com. "This is a pure individual trophy. I am very honored to have it, it is an inspiration for me. But I don't play golf or tennis, so I won't favor myself before my team."

Jagr won the award four consecutive times from 2005-08 and now Pastrnak trails just Dominik Hasek  (5) and Jagr (12) for the most trophy wins.

Pastrnak had a breakout year in 2019-20 before the regular season was ultimately halted and then finished due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 24-year-old recorded a career-high 48 goals and 95 points while taking home his first Rocket Richard Trophy.

The NHL season will return sometime this summer with the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and Pastrnak and the Bruins will be competing for seeding with the top four teams in the Eastern Conference.
