It’s been two weeks since the free agency market opened, and John Klingberg is still left without a dance partner for next season.

Now, according to Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli, Klingberg is changing his representation.

Klingberg, 29, had been represented by Peter Wallen since he broke into the league, and Wallen was the agent who helped him ink a seven-year, $29.75 million deal with the Dallas Stars in 2015. He’s now moved on from Wallen, and as Seravalli noted, will be represented by Newport Sports Management.

Walking into the market as the "belle of the ball" in terms of defensemen available on the market, it’s been a shock to many the towering puck-mover hasn’t signed with a team. And the further things go, the number of teams that could sign him shrinks.

It’s safe to assume at this point in his career Klingberg is looking for an opportunity to win a Stanley Cup and there’s a small number of teams that have the space to give Klingberg a much-deserved raise.

In 74 games last year, Klingberg scored six goals and 47 points — a point per game pace that puts him right in line with his career average in terms of his production.
