Denver Pioneers junior forward Tristan Broz is turning pro. The 21-year-old signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins, who drafted the forward in the second round, 58th overall, of the 2021 NHL Draft.

Broz will join the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on an amateur tryout (ATO) contract for the remainder of this season. The Bloomington, Minnesota, native’s ELC will begin in 2024–25.

Broz enjoyed his best season with Denver in 2023–24, potting career highs in goals (16), assists (24), points (40), and plus-minus rating (20).

After transferring from the University of Minnesota after his freshman campaign, he played for the Pioneers for two seasons and collected 26 goals and 68 points.

Broz was instrumental in Denver’s quest to capture its 10th National Championship, potting overtime winners against UMass in the Springfield Regional semifinal and Boston University in the Frozen Four semifinal.

Broz is the latest Pioneers to turn pro after defensemen Shai Buium and Sean Behrens and forward Massimo Rizzo signed ELCs with their respective clubs.
