Devils defenseman P.K. Subban reveals he has COVID-19

The New Jersey Devils will be without P.K. Subban for a little while.

The defenseman revealed Friday that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and has been “hit pretty hard” by the virus.

Subban was added to the NHL’s COVID list on Tuesday. Not all players on the list have the virus, so it wasn’t clear at the time if Subban was sick. Some players are placed on the list due to false positives, a close contact with someone who has the virus or other reasons.

The 31-year-old missed New Jersey’s last two games against the Pittsburgh Penguins and it’s unclear when he’ll return.

Subban has five goals and 14 assists in 44 games this season. He isn’t the same player he once was with the Montreal Canadiens, but is still an effective defender.
