Devils re-sign leading scorer Jesper Bratt to one-year, $5.45 million contract

The New Jersey Devils have decided to bring back their leading scorer from the 2021-2022 season on a one-year contract and thus, avoid arbitration that was scheduled for Wednesday morning.

Bratt will enter his sixth NHL season in the fall (all spent with the Devils) and he is coming off a year in which he set career highs in goals (26), assists (47), points (73), shots (197), power-play points (18) and average time on ice (17:26). Bratt led all New Jersey skaters in assists, points, shots and power-play points last season, while tying with All-Star Jack Hughes in goals.

The 23-year-old was selected in the sixth round of the 2016 NHL entry draft.

The re-signing of Bratt comes on the heels of New Jersey's pickup of fellow winger Ondrej Palat, who has won two Stanley Cup titles in his career.
