New Jersey Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald announced that the club has re-signed defenseman Kevin Bahl to a two-year contract worth $2,100,000 with an average annual value of $1,050,000. 

According to CapFriendly, the contract breakdown is as follows: 2023-24: $900,000 and 2024-25: $1,200,000.

Bahl spent the 2022-23 season with the Devils, appearing in a career-high 42 games and notching eight points and 35 penalty minutes. Bahl also recorded his first career fighting major after he squared up with Boston forward Trent Frederic on December 28, 2022.

According to StatMuse, Bahl’s 6.52 hits per 60 minutes ranked second for all New Jersey defensemen who played in more than 10 games during the 2022-23 regular season. Bahl played in 11 of the Devils’ 12 playoff contests, averaged 13:31 time-on-ice, and was one of 10 Devils skaters who earned their first career postseason point.

The New Westminster, British Columbia product was initially selected No. 55 overall in the 2018 NHL Draft by the Arizona Coyotes. He spent four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Ottawa 67’s and totaled 87 points in 237 career games; he was named to the OHL Second All-Star Team in 2020.
