Devils reportedly a front-runner for six-time All-Star Johnny Gaudreau

Johnny Gaudreau has spent his entire career with the Calgary Flames since being selected by the organization in the fourth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. It was reported last week that the Flames were focused on re-signing the six-time All-Star ahead of the kickoff to free agency Wednesday afternoon, but the market is now open and it seems like Gaudreau could be on the move.

In his eighth full season in the league in 2021-2022, the 28-year-old played in all 82 of Calgary's games and recorded career highs across the board in goals (40), assists (75), points (115) and plus-minus (64). His plus-minus led the NHL, his points total ranked him second in the league and his assists placed in third among all skaters.

Despite finishing with the third-best record in the Western Conference, the Flames playoff run ended in the second round at the hands of the Edmonton Oilers. Calgary has made the postseason five times since Gaudreau joined the franchise but they've still yet to make it out of the second round.

Gaudreau's 609 career points ranks him fifth in franchise history, behind Theoren Fleury (830), and three Hall of Famers -- Joe Nieuwendyk (616), Al MacInnis (822), Jerome Iginla (1,095).
