Newark — The New Jersey Devils provided some updates on some injuries on Friday. The team announced on Friday that Devils star defenseman Dougie Hamilton suffered a torn left pectoral muscle, Tuesday night against the New York Islanders.

According to the release, “Hamilton underwent successful surgery earlier on Friday. It was performed by Devils’ Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jonathan L. Glashow and Team Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Guillem Gonzalez-Lomas. The Devils defenseman will be out indefinitely and a further timeline on his status will be provided when available.”

As a result, Hamilton has been placed on Injured Reserve retroactive to Nov. 28 and the club has officially recalled D Simon Nemec from Utica (AHL).

But wait, there’s more.

The release further states, “Devils forward Tomas Nosek re-aggravated his right foot injury that he initially suffered 10/13 versus Arizona, missing 10 games earlier this season. He had surgery on Wednesday with Dr. Martin O’Malley and will be out indefinitely and a further timeline on his status will be provided when available.”

On the positive? Erik Haula will not play on Friday against the San Jose Sharks. However, head coach Lindy Ruff indicated that the Devils forward is progressing well and will travel with the team on their upcoming four-game road trip. All signs point to a return for the veteran Devils forward soon.
