Ducks EVP/GM Bob Murray placed on administrative leave amid investigation

The Anaheim Ducks are 6-4-3 heading into Tuesday's game against the 5-6-1 Vancouver Canucks but made headlines for a much different reason when they announced they've placed executive vice president and general manager Bob Murray on administrative leave "pending an ongoing investigation related to professional conduct."

The Ducks added that they hired the law firm Sheppard Mullin to handle an independent investigation.

"Upon recommendation from their initial findings, we have decided to place Bob on administrative leave pending final results," the team said. "In the interim, Vice President of Hockey Operations and Assistant General Manager Jeff Solomon will assume the role of Interim General Manager. We will have no further comment until the investigation is complete."

According to Greg Wyshynski of ESPN and Eric Stephens of The Athletic, Murray first joined the Ducks in 2005 and became the team's general manager in 2008. As noted by the club's website, Murray earned NHL General Manager of the Year honors for the 2013-14 season.

Details on allegations made against Murray are unknown at this time. He is set to turn 67 years old on Nov. 26.
