Anaheim Ducks top prospect Cutter Gauthier surpassed Winnipeg Jets forward Kyle Connor today for most goals in the NCAA by an under-20 player in the last 25 years. Gauthier scored his 36th and 37th goals today as the Boston College Eagles demolished Michigan Tech 6-1 to advance to the Regional Finals.

Connor held the previous record of 35 goals while playing for the University of Michigan Wolverines in 2015-16. Gauthier could become the first under-20 NCAA player to record 40 goals since Ralph Cox did it at the age of 19 with the University of New Hampshire in 1976-77. The last NCAA player to score 40 goals was Dean Fedorchuk who did it in the 1993-94 campaign with Alaska Fairbanks.

The 20-year-old currently has 37 goals and 25 assists for 62 points in 38 games this season with Boston College playing on a loaded Eagles squad that features San Jose Sharks prospect Will Smith, Washington Capitals prospect Ryan Leonard, New York Rangers forward Gabe Perreault and more. Gauthier ranks first among Eagles’ skaters in goals, sixth in assists and second in points. Leaguewide, he ranks first in goals and second in points with 2024 top prospect Macklin Celebrini trailing right behind him.

Gauthier was named to the NCAA Hockey East First All-Star Team and was named an NCAA Hobey Baker Award Nominee for the NCAA Top Collegiate Player.

Internationally, Gauthier represented the United States at the 2023 and 2024 IIHF World Juniors. He captured a bronze medal in 2023 and in 2024 led the United States to a gold medal victory and was named the World Junior Championship Best Forward after recording two goals and 12 points in seven games.

Gauthier was oringally selected by the Philadelphia Flyers No. 5 overall in the 2022 NHL Draft. Earlier this year, Gauthier demanded a trade out of Philadelphia and the Flyers worked diligently to facilitate a trade in which ultimately he was dealt to the Ducks in exchange for defenseman Jamie Drysdale.
