The ECHL has announced fines and suspensions for the following players, Cincinnati Cyclone’s defenceman, Cole Fraser, was fined an undisclosed amount and suspended for one game due to his actions during the match-up against Ft Wayne Komet’s. On March 16th, the day the offense occurred, Fraser was announced as Cincinnati’s Star of the Game. Fraser is fined and suspended under Rule# 28: Supplementary Discipline directly resulting from his actions at 9:44 of the Second Period, in retaliation for the hit on Jalen Smereck by Komets Nolan Volcan
While Smereck was slowly rising from the hit, Fraser crossed the ice and immediately started throwing hands, taking Nolan Volcan to the ice. He landed more than five hits while Nolan cowered, protecting his head. Fraser immediately left the period, heading to the locker room until the end of the second period. For continuing the altercation, Fraser was penalized ten minutes for misconduct and two minutes for roughing, for which Zack Andrusiak served time. Fraser will miss the March 17th game against Indy Fuel to fulfill his suspension.
Kalamazoo Wing’s forward Collin Adams was fined an undisclosed amount and suspended for one game for his actions during the match-up against Allen Americans on March 16th. Adams was fined and suspended under Rule #28: Supplementary Discipline for an Unpenalized Slew-foot infraction at 14:02 in the third period, when Adams swept Defenseman Nolan Orzeck off his feet against the boards. Adams will miss the March 17th Match-up against Allen Americans.
All Fines and Penalties are under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players Association (PHPA); players’ fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund. Since 2020, the PHPA has assisted players and their families in times of need.
