Following their game seven loss to the Adirondack Thunder in the first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs, the first Maine Mariners roster move is Fedor Gordeev signing in the KHL for next season. Gordeev played with the Mariners for 63 games in the 2022-2023 season, where he had 12 goals and 21 assists for a total of 33 points. The Russian native started out the 2023-2024 season with the Sibir Novosibirsk of the KHL, which is where he signed prior to joining Maine. In the KHL, Gordeev played 42 games where he had two goals and five assists for a total of seven points.

He then returned to play with the Mariners in February of this season, where he then played 26 games, with a total of 15 points coming from three goals and 12 assists. He was also with the Mariners for their seven-game playoff run, in which he put up two assists. Prior to playing with the Mariners, Gordeev played with the Iowa Wild of the AHL in the 2020-2021 season and with the Iowa Heartlanders of the ECHL in the 2021-2022 season. Before this, he played seven seasons in the OHL. Spanning from the 2015-2016 season to the 2019-2020 season, Gordeev was a part of the Hamilton Bulldogs, the Flint Firebirds, and the Guelph Storm. The 6’7″ defenseman will be headed back overseas and return to the Sibir Novosibirsk for the 2024-2025 season.
