Brett Kulak will be sticking around in Edmonton.

According to Frank Seravalli, the Oilers and Kulak have agreed to a four-year contract worth $2.75 million annually.

Kulak, a native of Stony Plain, Alberta, was drafted in the fourth round of the 2012 NHL Draft by the Calgary Flames. Kulak made his NHL debut with the Flames in 2014-15 and played 101 games with them over the course of four seasons.

In 2018, the Flames traded Kulak to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Matt Taormina and Rinat Valiev. In Montreal, Kulak emerged as a quality third-pairing defender, logging an average of 17:19 per game for the Canadiens over 215 games all told.

The Habs traded Kulak to the Oilers at this year’s trade deadline in exchange for William Lagesson and a second-round draft pick. In Edmonton, Kulak scored eight points in 18 regular-season games and then added five points in 16 playoff games.

Kulak is coming off of a three-year contract worth $1.85 million annually that was signed in May of 2019, so this contract with the Oilers will feature a nice raise for him.
