William Eklund and Fabian Zetterlund helped the San Jose Sharks kick off their Pride celebration.

On Wednesday, the young wingers helped “coach” LGBTQ+ adult hockey team, the San Francisco Earthquakes, in their second-annual scrimmage against Sharks employees at SAP Center.

According to Zetterlund, Eklund’s senior by three years, he was, naturally, the head coach.

“They try so hard,” Zetterlund said of the Quakes. “It’s fun to see.”

“Fun for them to see where we play at,” Eklund said. “It’s just fun to see everybody happy.”

At the scrimmage, the Earthquakes debuted their new logo, a tribute to the San Jose Sharks.

Per a Sharks press release, the “SF” in the Earthquakes’ logo is inspired by the Sharks “SJ” logo. Also, the logo has a triangle like the Sharks’ primary logo.

So why was it important for Eklund and Zetterlund, on their night off, to show their support for Pride?

“It’s important because hockey is for everyone. That’s important, that hockey is for everyone,” Eklund said. “We want to be there to show support, like they show support for us.”

“We have to support them too,” Zetterlund said, “outside the games we play.”

The San Jose Sharks’ Pride Game is at SAP Center on Saturday at 1 PM, as they take on the Buffalo Sabres.
