Flames re-sign Andrew Mangiapane to two-year, $4.85 million contract following career year

The Calgary Flames announced on Friday that they re-signed restricted free agent forward Andrew Mangiapane to a two-year contract. That deal includes an average annual value of $2.425 million.

Mangiapane, who turned 24 years old last April, enjoyed a career year during the pandemic-altered 2019-20 season. He posted personal bests with 17 goals, 15 assists, 32 points, 109 shots on goal, two game-winning goals, a power-play assist and 68 games played.

Mangiapane played in all 10 of Calgary's contests held during the summer NHL resumption. He tallied two goals and three assists for five points before the Flames were eliminated by the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference quarterfinals.

Dallas went on to fall to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Stanley Cup Final.

The Flames acquired Mangiapane in the fifth round of the 2015 NHL Draft, and he made his official Calgary debut on Dec. 31, 2017. Across 122 regular-season games,, he's recorded 25 goals and 20 assists for 45 points.

As Cap Friendly notes, Friday's announcement leaves defenseman Oliver Kylington as Calgary's lone restricted free agent.
