On Wednesday evening, the Philadelphia Flyers announced that they had assigned Ronnie Attard, Bobby Brink, Adam Ginning, and Olle Lycksell to the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

The Flyers had assigned all four players to the AHL prior to the 2024 NHL trade deadline, making them eligible to play in the Calder Cup playoffs for the Phantoms this season.

Of the four, only Brink had established himself as something of an NHL regular for the Flyers this season, appearing in 57 games and scoring 23 points. Attard, Ginning, and Lycksell all played fewer than 20 games in the NHL this season.

All four players, however, played some of their best hockey this season with the Phantoms. For example, Attard is still sixth in scoring for Lehigh Valley despite having been with the Flyers since late February.

Lycksell actually still leads the Phantoms in goals, with 19, while Brink was a point-per-game player during his brief AHL stint in the winter.

Ginning is a defense-first defenseman, so his numbers won’t pop like the others. He, alongside Emil Andrae, was unquestionably a top defender for the Phantoms, and will be again as of this weekend.

In search of a spot in the Calder Cup playoffs, Lehigh Valley has three games remaining in their regular season with a back-to-back-to-back on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Lehigh Valley can clinch a playoff spot with a win against Bridgeport on Friday, which would subsequently allow for playoff experience for the four Flyers prospects joining up for the push.

University of Denver star Massimo Rizzo signed his entry-level contract with the Flyers on Wednesday, but it will be effective starting with the 2024-25 season. The 22-year-old did not sign a tryout agreement in order to join Lehigh Valley, so the Phantoms will have to make do with Attard, Brink, Ginning, and Lycksell.
