The Philadelphia Flyers’ New Era of Orange is making moves that would make co-founder Ed Snider happy.
There’s a freshly painted double logo at center ice of the Wells Fargo Center. There are new uniforms and a new management team — it’s a Flyers new era, indeed.
The double logo originally was the late co-founder’s idea. NHL.com reported Snider “strongly preferred” the double logo because he didn’t like how the single logo was bisected by the center red line.
The Flyers switched to a single logo before the 2019-20 season.
The new logo will see its first action on Sept. 30 when the Flyers play the Devils in the first of three home preseason games.
The Flyers will honor their former boss with an Ed Snider Legacy Game on Jan. 6, against Calgary. The night will highlight Snider’s “dedication and contributions to the franchise and Philadelphia community,” according to a team news release.
