For the first time in his pro career, former ASU NCAA Division I captain Josh Doan has received a significant honor.

The Roadrunners announced today that Doan will be heading to San Jose, California for the 2024 AHL All-Star Game, representing the Pacific Division.

If the Doan name sounds familiar, it does since his dad happens to be Arizona Coyotes legend Shane Doan.

Josh, 22, was born in Scottsdale and played youth hockey for multiple Jr. Coyotes AAA travel teams at Ice Den Scottsdale.

Before joining ASU, he spent two seasons (2019-21) in the USHL with the Chicago Steel.

Then to follow in his father’s footsteps being associated with the Coyotes, Josh was a second-round selection (37th overall) in the 2021 NHL Draft by Arizona.

As a Sun Devil for two years, Josh garnered a total of 75 points (28 goals, 47 assists) in 74 games.

After repping the “C” for ASU, he decided to turn pro and headed down south to Arizona’s AHL minor league affiliate in Tucson.

So far this season, Doan has posted 16 goals and 12 assists for 28 points in 41 games for Tucson.

This year’s edition of the AHL All-Star Game is on Sunday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. MST.
