Former LA Kings defenseman Christian Wolanin has found a new home, signing a one-year two-way contract with the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.

From the press release:

The 6’2″, 190-pound defenceman has spent parts of five seasons in the NHL, registering 20 points (6-14-20) and 16 penalty minutes in 70 career regular season games played with Ottawa, Los Angeles, and Buffalo. At the AHL level, Wolanin has played 89 regular season games with the Belleville Senators and Ontario Reign, reaching a total of 53 points (9-44-53) and 55 penalty minutes. During his rookie AHL season (2018.19), he led all Belleville defencemen in scoring with 31 points (7-24-31) in 40 games.

Wolanin, 27, came over the Kings via the Michael Amadio trade with Ottawa in March 2021. That summer, he signed a one-year contract to remain in Los Angeles but was placed on waivers and claimed by the Buffalo Sabres in October.

After two months with Buffalo, Wolanin was placed on waivers and claimed by the Kings.

He largely spent the bulk of his tenure with the Ontario Reign of the AHL. Wolanin played in eight NHL games last season, tallying one goal and one assist.

With the Reign, he had one goal and 17 assists and finished with the fourth-most points (18) among Reign defensemen.
