Hockey Canada has named and elected its nine new board of directors following a voting process on Saturday.

The board consists of diverse and experienced members who were put forward by an independent nominating committee.

The former board stepped down in October due to the fallout from handling sexual assault allegations and handing payouts to victims. The new board will lead Hockey Canada through major and urgent changes in relation to toxic behavior in hockey culture as part of its action plan.

“We have a lot of work ahead of us and we are determined to enact the changes Canadians expect of Hockey Canada,” said Honorable Hugh L. Fraser, the new chair of the board of directors. “Hockey means so much to our country and we will be committed to making sure that Hockey Canada is an organization that is transparent and accountable to all Canadians and is worthy of their time.”

Hugh L. Fraser, the father of former NHL defenseman Mark Fraser, is a retired Ontario Court of Justice judge who has nearly three decades of experience. He also served on the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal and is the commissioner for Athletics Canada and sat on the board of the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sports. Meanwhile, Cassie Campbell-Pascall highlights the other notable name on the board of directors list. The Former Canadian national team captain and three-time gold medalist will fill one of the other nine seats.

The other board members who were voted in by the independent nominating committee are as follows: Grant Borbridge, Julie Duranceau, Dave Evans, Marni Fullerton, Jonathan F. Goldbloom, Marian Jacko and Andrea Poole.
