RALEIGH, North Carolina: On Apr. 7, the Carolina Hurricanes furthered a multi-day streak of signing prospects. This time, it was University of Maine forward Bradly Nadeau to a three-year entry-level deal.
Nadeau was selected in the first round of the 2023 NHL draft by the organization, with the thirtieth overall pick. In his freshman season with Maine, he was credited with 46 points in 37 overall games. He was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie team and a Hockey East Second Team All-Star. He led the university’s team in goals and points.
Before his collegiate hockey career, Nadeau was credited with 113 points in 54 BCHL games. He won 2023’s BCHL regular-season and playoff MVP award after leading the entire league in goals, points, and assists. He also won two consecutive national championships in the BCHL.
Nadeau made his first appearance in Raleigh on Apr. 7 at the team’s final home game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He was honored by the Canes and their fans on the jumbotron during the game, not even a full hour after he signed with the organization. He was not in attendance on Apr. 8’s open practice, and it is uncertain whether or not he will play in a game this season. Nadeau is marked by his speed shots and ability to adapt aspects of his game in a swift amount of time, making fans and reporters excited to see him at the NHL level. Despite long-term cap space concerns for the Hurricanes, fans have a lot to look forward to with the new signings, and the addition of Nadeau only adds further excitement going into a new generation of players.
