The Carolina Hurricanes have signed forward Ryan Dzingel to a one-year, two-way contract, the club announced Monday.

Dzingel, 30, split the 2021–22 season between the Arizona Coyotes and San Jose Sharks, scoring five goals and eight points in 32 games.

His new contract carries a $750,000 cap hit in the NHL and will pay him a $150,000 salary in the AHL, with guaranteed earnings of at least $200,000.

The Ottawa Senators originally selected Dzingel in the seventh round (No. 204 overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft. The forward spent the first four seasons of his NHL career in Ottawa before being traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets before the 2019 deadline.

After a brief stint with the Blue Jackets, Dzingel signed a two-year deal with the Hurricanes in 2019. Midway through the 2020–21 season, Carolina sent Dzingel back to the Senators, with whom he played out the rest of his contract.

In 404 career regular-season games with Ottawa, Columbus, Carolina, Arizona and San Jose, Dzingel has scored 87 goals and 188 points. He topped out at 26 goals and 56 points in 78 games split between Ottawa and Columbus in 2018–19.

Dzingel was a regular presence for the Senators during their run to the 2017 Eastern Conference Final. In 28 career playoff games with Ottawa, Columbus, and Carolina, the Wheaton, Illinois product has scored three goals and four points.
