Hurricanes trade Ryan Dzingel to Senators for Alex Galchenyuk, Cedric Paquette

Ryan Dzingel is returning to the team that drafted him in 2011. 

The Carolina Hurricanes traded Dzingel to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Cedric Paquette and Alex Galchenyuk on Saturday. 

Dzingel has two goals and four points in 11 games with the Hurricanes this season. The Chicago native spent four seasons in Ottawa before being traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2019. 

The 28-year-old is in the final year of a two-year, $6.75 million deal he signed with Carolina in July 2019. In 247 games with the Senators, Dzingel has 126 points (62 goals, 64 assists). 

Galchenyuk spent the majority of his career with the Montreal Canadiens. Since the 2017-18 campaign, he has played for the Arizona Coyotes, Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota Wild and the Senators. The 27-year-old has 321 points (136 goals, 185 assists) in 557 games. 

Paquette spent seven seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning, winning the Stanley Cup with the franchise last season before signing with the Senators in free agency. In 386 games, the 27-year-old has 86 points (48 goals, 38 assists).
