Following the Iowa Heartlander’s brutal 7-1 loss to the Indy Fuel and a dropping of the gloves between Iowa’s Adam Goodsir and Indy’s Colin Bilek with 4:32 remaining in the third period, Goodsir will serve a one-game suspension on Saturday, February 17th, in a rematch of last night’s beatdown.

According to rule 46.12 of the ECHL rulebook, any player who is penalized for instigation of a fight will be given a two-minute minor penalty, a five-minute major penalty, and a ten-minute game misconduct penalty, as well being handed a one-game suspension for their actions. Goodsir will miss Iowa’s blackout night as the Landers look to avoid being swept by the Fuel, who are on a six-game win streak.

Had Goodsir taken the same actions 90 seconds earlier on the game clock, he would not have received the ten-minute game misconduct penalty and would not have been suspended for Saturday’s game. Instead, Goodsir will not be permitted to return to the ice until the Heartlanders host the Wichita Thunder on Wednesday, February 21, for their 6:35 pm CT game.

Tonight, Iowa will take to the ice without Goodsir as well as other key players on injury reserve, such as Jake Durflinger, Nick Campoli, and Louis Boudon, who was called up to the Iowa Wild before the 7-1 rout. Fans can expect either Drew DeRidder or Hunter Jones to be between the pipes for Iowa, while Indy will likely see no reason to stray from the dominance of Mitchell Weeks. Tonight’s game will start at 6 pm Central (7 pm Eastern), with gates opening at 5 pm Central.
