Today on Daily Faceoff Live, hosts Tyler Yaremchuk and former NHL player and now analyst Colby Cohen discuss New York Rangers rookie Matt Rempe and his destruction in the NHL through his first 10 games. Rempe was ejected from last night’s game against the New Jersey Devils for a headshot on Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler. Devils’ tough guy Kurtis MacDermid had choice words for Rempe in the post-game interview, Colby and Tyler break it all down.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Kurtis MacDermid, New Jersey Devils defenseman was fired up after last night’s game. With Rempe doing the little waving celebration as the game misconduct came in, MacDermid didn’t like that. MacDermid said “There’s a right way to go about things and a wrong way. I lost a lot of respect for him (Rempe) tonight.” Is this Rempe situation maybe going a bit far? Again, the first couple of games it was fun, it was this new kid trying to establish himself and make a mark on the league but do you agree with MacDermid, do you think Rempe needs to be turned down a little bit?

Colby Cohen: I do think Rempe should’ve fought MacDermid last night, especially after the hit and he was asking him all game and if you’re only playing five minutes a night and that’s how you contribute then that’s what you need to do. So I didn’t love that he didn’t fight MacDermid, and MacDermid’s job is to fight, he plays only three or four minutes a night. I wouldn’t say I personally lost respect for him because of the hit last night as I’m not looking at that hit as an intent to injure but I wouldn’t say I’m jumping on this bandwagon. Johnny Lazarus on Morning Cuppa Coffee said that he (Rempe) completely changed the identity of the New York Rangers. I think that’s an insane overreach for a team that has been in first place almost the entire season.
