Islanders HC Barry Trotz: Missed too-many-men call on Lightning goal 'hurt quite a bit'

New York Islanders head coach Barry Trotz was understandably frustrated after a missed too-many-men call led to the Tampa Bay Lightning scoring a go-ahead goal during Tuesday's Game 2 at Amalie Arena.

Ondrej Palat scored the go-ahead goal in the second period to give the Bolts a 2-1 lead, but replay showed Tampa Bay had extra players on the ice at the time.

"The second goal hurt quite a bit," Trotz said after the game, according to ESPN's Greg Wyshynski. "Obviously you guys know there was too many men on the ice there. They had seven guys."

Palat's goal wasn't the only controversial one of the night, however. The Islanders scored on a power play in the first period after a contentious goaltender interference penalty on Bolts forward Brayden Point.

Islanders defenseman Adam Pelech appeared to shove Point into his own goaltender, but officials called it goaltender interference anyway.

The Lightning went on to win Game 2 4-2 and even the third-round series at 1-1. Game 3 between the two clubs will take place on Thursday at Nassau Coliseum.
