The New York Islanders have placed defenseman Sebastian Aho on injured reserve with an upper-body injury retroactive to Nov. 24, per an announcement by the team.

Aho left the Islanders’ game against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday while clutching his shoulder and did not return after crashing into the boards in the first period.

Now that Aho has officially been placed on injured reserve, he will have to miss a minimum of seven days, making Dec. 1 his earliest possible return date.

Aho is only the latest addition to the Islanders’ injured reserve list. On Saturday, the team placed Adam Pelech on long-term injured reserve with an upper-body injury.

Matt Martin was also added to the Islander’s injured reserve list retroactive to Nov. 15 and has missed the last five games. He did, however,  rejoin the team at practice this morning for the first time in a week.

So far this year, the Islanders have had players miss a combined 17 games due to injury.

To fill the suddenly gaping void on their blueline, the Islanders claimed veteran defenseman Mike Reilly off waivers from the Flordia Panthers, who participated in his first practice with the team this morning.

Two players that were missing from practice were forwards Simon Holmstrom and Cal Clutterbuck.
