The New York Islanders knew the who and the where all they needed was the when.

On Friday morning, the NHL released the schedule for the first round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, including that for the Islanders’ series against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Schedule:

Game 1: Saturday, April 20, 5 p.m. EST at Carolina

Game 2: Monday, April 22, 7:30 p.m. EST at Carolina

Game 3: Thursday, April 25, 7:30 p.m. EST at New York

Game 4: Saturday, April 27, 2 p.m. EST at New York

Game 5, if necessary: Tuesday, April 30, TBD, at Carolina

Game 6, if necessary: Thursday, May 2, TBD at New York

Game 7, if necessary: Saturday, May 4, TBD, at Carolina

Games 1 and 4 will be broadcast nationally on TBS, while Games 2 and 3 will air on ESPN 2. All games will air locally on MSG Networks.

This is the second straight year the Islanders and Hurricanes will meet in the opening round of the playoffs. Last season, the Hurricanes eliminated the Islanders in six games.

The Islanders enter the playoffs as the third seed in the Metropolitan Division, having won eight of their final nine games in the regular season. They had a 2-1-1 record against the Hurricanes and lost their last matchup with Carolina by a final score of 4-1 on March 19 at UBS Arena.

Whoever wins the best-of-seven series between the Islanders and Hurricanes will advance to the second round of the playoffs and face the winner of the series between the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals.
