The New York Islanders announced on Tuesday that they’ve signed Laurel Hollow, NY native, Marshall Warren to a two-year, entry-level contract that begins in 2024-25.

Warren is a former sixth-round pick in 2019, selected 166th overall by the Minnesota Wild.

The 22-year-old defenseman just wrapped up his fifth year playing in the NCAA, spending the first four seasons at Boston College and his fifth season with the Michigan Wolverines.

Warren served as Boston College’s captain in the 2022-23 season. In 36 games as captain, Warren collected five goals and 14 points.

Wearing an ‘A’ on his sweater in his first and final season with the Wolverines, Warren titled four goals and 18 points in 41 games.

According to Warren’s EliteProspects profile, “He has excellent puck skills for a defender, with both control and protection ability. He is calm with the puck and moves it smartly.

“He has a quick first step, nice acceleration, and really good edges that leads to him reaching an elite up-tempo speed.”

Warren’s put together a strong college career playing in 130 games, scoring 20 goals, and tallying 57 points across five seasons.

En route to a 5-2 victory with Michigan, Marshall helped the Wolverines upset Michigan State in the quarter-final of the 2024 Frozen Four.

The Wolverines were later blanked against Warren’s former club, Boston College, in the semifinal round in a 4-0 defeat.

Warren signed a professional tryout with the Islanders American Hockey League affiliate, Bridgeport Islanders, for the remainder of the 2023-24 season, joining Isles top prospects Matthew Maggio and Ruslan Iskhakov.

The Islanders’ newest defenseman will play out the remainder of Bridgeport’s schedule, a game each against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and Providence Bruins.

The B-Isles won’t reach the AHL playoffs.

Marshall signing with the Islanders is a homecoming story.

The Laurel Hollow native grew up a fan of the Islanders and will now get to play for his childhood team.
