Well here’s a strange story to start the day.

The Pittsburgh Penguins were expected to give away bobbleheads of legendary forward Jaromir Jagr before Thursday night’s game against the San Jose Sharks. However, that is going to happen thanks to a small heist.

In a release, the team was notified that a shipment carrying thousands of bobbleheads was stolen following its arrival in California. With that, the items did not make it to Pittsburgh, forcing them to be handed out at a later date.

“We were shocked to be a victim of cargo theft, and we are working closely with local and federal authorities on the investigation,” Penguins President of Business Operations Kevin Acklin said in the release. “While this unfortunate incident adds to the legend of Jaromir Jagr, who will be in attendance as our guest at tonight’s game, we look forward to resolving this theft and delivering the prized Jagr bobbleheads to their rightful homes, with our fans.”

The Penguins worked with the transportation and manufacturer companies to notify the proper authorities of the issue. The team stated that it would not comment further on the matter “to not hamper the recovery of the goods.”

To ensure fans receive the bobbleheads as part of the promotion, those in attendance will receive a barcode voucher. They will need to pick up their own little Jagr at a date yet to be announced. Fans attending Thursday night’s game are the only ones eligible for the voucher.

The Steel City has seen a little bit of Jagr madness over the last couple of months, ever since the Czech native returned to the team that drafted him last month to have his No. 68 retired.
