Nashville Predators In a 4-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets on March 13, defenseman Jeremy Lauzon

Lauzon led all skaters on both teams with six hits, giving him 321 total to set a new franchise record for the most in a single season. He broke the previous record of 318 set by Tanner Jeannot in 2021-22.

Lauzon is now 62 hits away from the most in an NHL season. The NHL single-season record is currently held by Matt Martin, who had 382 hits for the New York Islanders in 2014-15.

The 2023-24 campaign has been a career season for Lauzon in every nearly statistical category. The defenseman has scored six goals on the season, doubling his previous career high of three set in 2022-23, and his 13 total points are his most in a single season. His next game will be his 68th of the campaign, setting a new career high in that category as well.

Skating in his sixth NHL season, Lauzon is in his second full season with the Predators and his first as an everyday starter. He has logged 1,228 minutes of ice time this season, eclipsing his previous career high of 1,166 set in 2021-22.

It was two years ago, almost to the day, that the Predators acquired Lauzon from the Seattle Kraken for a second-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft. He was far from a household name at the time, but he has since earned his reputation as one of the league's toughest defensemen to play against.

Now, as Lauzon continues to chase NHL history, the four-year, $8 million contract he signed with the Predators two summers ago is looking like more of a bargain every day.
