PITTSBURGH - After joining the Pittsburgh Penguins organization in the early stages of December, forward Jesse Puljujarvi has finally hit the ice in game action.

Puljujarvi joined the Penguins as a free agent tryout and recently took the next steps in his progress back to the NHL with his arrival in the American Hockey League.

Officially signing a professional tryout with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Puljujarvi made his season debut against the Springfield Thunderbirds.

In the Penguins 2-1 win over the Thunderbirds, Puljujarvi skated on the first line as a right winger alongside Colin White and Vinnie Hinoztroza.

Puljujarvi is no stranger to the AHL having played 53 career games with the Bakersfield Condors during his time with the Edmonton Oilers organization.

In those games, he scored 15 goals and 22 assists for 37 total points.

The Penguins have high expectations for Puljujarvi and hope to see him succeed at the AHL level and follow that by reaching the Penguins NHL lineup and being a useful piece.

President and general manager Kyle Dubas stated that Puljujarvi can be a huge addition to the depth as someone who can play anywhere in the lineup.

Puljujarvi will have more chances to get his game legs under him as the WBS Penguins play two more games in the next two nights.
