Jets' Pierre-Luc Dubois plans to test free agency in 2024 rather than sign extension

According to Sportnet's Elliotte Friedman, Pierre-Luc Dubois has informed the Winnipeg Jets that he plans to test free agency when his contract runs out in 2024.

With Dubois' restricted free agent designation, Winnipeg controls his rights for the next two seasons.

The Jets likely hoped to agree to an extension with Dubois soon rather than risk losing him in two seasons. It sounds as though that isn't going to happen.

Winnipeg acquired Dubois last season in a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic.

This year, Dubois posted a career-high 28 goals in his first full season with the Jets. He played in 81 games, finishing with 60 points, just one shy of tying his career-high.

In two seasons in Winnipeg, Dubois has 36 goals and 44 assists for 80 points, playing in 122 games.
