Tuesday's slate offers us five NBA games and 12 in the NHL. We're seeing more betting value on the ice tonight, and that's where our attention shall turn.

Parlaying some shots on goal from Florida

If you have an account on Caesars or Bet365, you're able to Same-Game Parlay hockey props, something most books still don't allow. We hope you have an account on one of these books because that's where our first look will be tonight. Here's the play:

  • Gustav Forsling over 2.5 SOG
  • Aaron Ekblad over 2.5 SOG
  • Brandon Montour over 2.5

Together, that trio comes in at +450 on CZR. Now, these three have reasonable odds standalone, and we'd recommend any if you can't combine them. These three Panthers have a few things in common: they're all defensemen, and they all pummeled Columbus a few weeks ago.

Forsling finished with five SOG in that game, while Ekblad and Montour each piled up seven shots on goal. According to our calculations, that's about 19 total between three guys. No team allows more shots to defensemen than Columbus, which certainly helps to explain why these three had so much success.

The numbers suggest Florida is about to pour it on, which is why we want to take a stab here at a SGP. The Panthers are averaging 38.4 shots per game at home while the Blue Jackets are seeing 38.3 shots against them on the road this season. Both of those marks are inside the top two in the NHL. When they met in November, Florida finished with 50 shots as a team.

Grab a Leon Draisaitl goal

Edmonton star Leon Draisaitl sure loves to play Nashville, and we'd recommend loading up his goal prop tonight at +117 on Caesars.

Over his last 11 games against the Predators, Draisaitl has 19 goals. Yes, you read that right. He's scored 2+ goals in seven of his past nine meetings with Nashville. He has a goal in seven of his last nine games overall and is a focal point of the Oilers attack. After mustering just one goal last night, we like Edmonton to push the pace against the Predators' backup goalie.

In the news ...

Argentina and Croatia meeting today — The first World Cup semifinal match will take place early this afternoon between Argentina and Croatia. The Argentinians are the favorites to advance at -265, while Croatia remains the underdog (+210). Croatia made the World Cup Final in 2018 while Lionel Messi is on his last ride with the national team. There's merit to both ends, and we expect a great match today. After seeing how tight so many of the quarterfinal games were, what would you say to us betting that we see a draw in regular time? Odds to see extra time and a potential shootout sit at +240 on DraftKings, a bet we're making.

Cowboys lose budding star tackle for season — Terence Steele had been a fortifying presence on the right side of the Dallas offensive line this season, but unfortunately has torn his ACL and will miss the rest of the season. This could potentially be quite a blow for the Cowboys, who are still awaiting the return of All-Pro LT Tyron Smith. Steele will be replaced by a combination of Josh Ball and Jason Peters. The betting favorites to make the Super Bowl out of the NFC are the Eagles (+160), 49ers (+350), Cowboys (+350), and Vikings (+850).

Cade Cunningham out for the rest of the reason — The top pick from last year's draft, Cade Cunningham, will miss the rest of the NBA season after undergoing surgery on his shin. There was some buzz the Pistons could be a team to watch this year with their collection of young impact players, but unfortunately, those plans have been put on hold a bit with Cunningham being shut down for the year after just 12 games played. It seems a full-on tank is likely to ensue, opening up a few Detroit players for trades. The Lakers are reportedly interested in acquiring Bojan Bogdanovic.

Mike Leach passes away due to heart attack — Longtime college football coach Mike Leach passed away late Monday evening due to complications from a heart attack, Mississippi State announced this morning. Leach has been a head coach for 20 years, starting with Texas Tech, then Washington State, and finally Mississippi State. Rest in peace to a college football legend.
