Kings sign Alex Iafallo to four-year, $16 million extension

The Los Angeles Kings signed forward Alex Iafallo to a four-year, $16 million extension, the team announced Monday.

Iafallo was a pending unrestricted free agent whose current cap hit is $2,425,000. The 27-year-old was a trade candidate this season if he and the Kings didn't work out an extension, but obviously that's no longer the case.

Iafallo has been very valuable to the Kings since breaking in to the NHL in 2017. He has notched 25-plus points in each of his four NHL seasons and has scored 11-plus goals in three consecutive seasons.

The New York native has 11 goals and 14 assists in 39 games this season.

The Kings are seventh in the West Division with a 16-18-6 record, and Iafallo ranks third on the team in goals and fourth in points (25).
