Kraken and Kings tie NHL records with high-scoring game

You don't have to be a hockey fan to have heard about the absolutely crazy game between the Seattle Kraken and the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night -- probably because the high-scoring tilt matched a couple of long-standing NHL records that are hard to top.

Seattle's wild 9-8 overtime win marked just the 12th time in 35 years that 17 or more goals have been scored in an NHL game. It also featured six game-tying goals in the second period, which ties an NHL record.

And while goaltending with clearly not the strong suit in Tuesday's tilt, Kraken netminder Martin Jones matched a record himself by giving up eight goals and still getting the win at the end of the night, which hasn't happened in over 30 years.

The crazy game ended mercifully at the 2:08 mark in overtime when Andre Burakovsky found the back of the net for Seattle.

"It was a kind of a messed-up night," Burakovsky told the Seattle Times. "I think we played a really bad game and so did they. We were lucky they didn't play good at all."
