The LA Kings have signed 2020 fifth-round pick Martin Chromiak to a three-year entry-level contract.

The move comes just one day after Chromiak and fellow OHL-er Francesco Pinelli were trimmed from the team’s roster.

As previously noted, Chromiak played in the Slovakian League last season, with the OHL season canceled amid the COVID-19 pandemic. With HK Dukla Trencin, the 19-year-old recorded seven goals with 12 assists in a 32-game sample size. He finished out the year with the Ontario Reign, playing in two games.

Before he was cut, Chromiak was one of the standout prospects this preseason, shining in the Rookie Faceoff. He also recorded three shots on goal in Monday’s preseason game against the Coyotes.

Our very own Russell Morgan was on site for the Rookie Faceoff, and here’s what he previously said about the young forward.

The most surprising performance during the weekend tournament for the LA Kings was from left-wing Martin Chromiak. Playing in all three games for LA, Chromiak notched a total of four points in the three contests.

His utilization of speed and skill was noticeable throughout the weekend. He was constantly on pucks and pressuring defenders causing turnovers and creating ample opportunities for skilled players like Byfield and Kaliyev to generate scoring chances.

Chromiak will turn 20 next August, so he’ll likely spend all of the 2021-22 season with the Kingston Frontenacs of the OHL, playing alongside arguably the top 2022 NHL Draft-eligible player in Shane Wright.

Good for Martin, and we can’t wait to see you with the LA Kings!
