The Tampa Bay Lightning have postponed their preseason home games on September 28 and 29 due to the potential effects of Hurricane Ian, the club announced Monday.

The Lightning were slated to face off against the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday and the Nashville Predators on Thursday.

Those games will be made up on later dates, and fans with tickets will be able to attend the rescheduled contests.

According to multiple major media outlets, Hurricane Ian is slated to become a Category 4 storm by the time it strikes Florida this week.

Florida has declared a state-wide state of emergency, with U.S. President Joe Biden also mobilizing the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency to provide public assistance and organize disaster relief.

The Lightning will play their first preseason game on the road against Carolina on September 27. With their first two exhibition home games now postponed, they’re set to return to action on September 30 in Nashville.
