When New York Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren left Sunday afternoon’s game against the New York Islanders with an injury to his left leg, many feared the worst.
With Jacob Trouba already out, Rangers fans and pundits figured that Lindgren, 26, might miss significant time as the injury looked gruesome. It is not often that Lindgren has to be helped off the ice, which was the case in yesterday’s 5-2 win at Madison Square Garden.
Well, it looks like luck is on the Rangers and their fan’s side because it is being reported by various Ranger bet writers that Lindgren is not expected to miss significant time. One of The Athletic’s Rangers writers, Peter Baugh Tweeted the following:
Ryan Lindgren will be out a few weeks, but it’s not as bad as the team initially feared, per source. He’s expected to make a full recovery.
This is certainly more than welcome news to both the team and their fans. Lindgren is someone who blocks a ton of shots, plays a physical brand of hockey, breaks up a lot of plays, and sacrifices his body in the name of winning hockey games.
While it is never a good thing when a player gets injured, this might be a blessing in disguise for the Blueshirts. With the Stanley Cup playoffs right around the corner, Lindgren can now rest and heal his body, so that when April comes around, he will be back to full health.
Again, it is not great that Lindgren is hurt, but at least it is not serious. For now, the Rangers need to focus on that and continue doing everything they can to pick up two points on a nightly basis so that they can give themselves a favorable matchup come playoff time.
