The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced that Nick Robertson will not complete Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Kings after suffering a shoulder injury.

The injury occurred midway through the first period. Kings defenseman Matt Roy hit Robertson into the boards hard near the Toronto net. Roy was given an interference penalty on the play.

The younger brother of Jason Robertson, Nick has been in and out of the lineup since the early part of the season. He has five points in 14 games with the Leafs and another two points in two AHL games with the Toronto Marlies. Robertson has seven points in 30 games over four seasons since getting drafted 53rd overall in 2019.

Robertson is no stranger to high-profile injuries. He suffered a non-displaced fracture of his right fibula last season that limited him to just 38 games between the NHL and AHL. In 2020-21, he suffered a knee injury in his debut, which limited him to just 27 games between the two leagues.

It was Robertson’s third game in Toronto’s top six as he looks to become a regular in the lineup. Standing at 5-foot-10, he doesn’t play a physical game, instead relying more on his mix of speed and skill.
