The Minnesota Wild will be shorthanded on their upcoming road trip as The Athletic's Michael Russo reports that forward Marcus Foligno will miss "a couple games" with a lower-body injury.

Foligno left Friday night's win over the Pittsburgh Penguins after an 11-second shift in the third period. Foligno drew a tripping penalty on Penguins defenseman Marcus Petterson with nine seconds left in the second period but spent the beginning of the third period on the bench before returning to the ice during a penalty kill.

After making a pass to Frederick Gaudreau, Foligno slammed his stick on the ice, skated toward the bench and immediately ran down the tunnel.

After putting up 21 points (seven goals, 14 assists) last season, Foligno has had a slightly better year with 20 points (9 G, 11 A) in 47 games this season. However, his production is still off his 2021-22 pace when he recorded 42 points (23 G, 19 A) in 74 games for the Wild.

The Rink Live's Jess Myers reports that Foligno will not make the Wild's upcoming road trip which includes Monday night's game against the Vegas Golden Knights and Wednesday's game against the Arizona Coyotes.

This would leave Foligno's possible return for when the Wild host the Buffalo Sabres on Feb. 17.

Russo also reports that Wild forward Connor Dewar could return to the lineup after being placed on injured reserve with a lower-body injury after taking a hip check in a Jan. 19 game against the Florida Panthers.

Dewar has seven goals and nine points in 45 games this season and should provide a boost to the Wild's penalty kill unit.
