The Minnesota Wild have placed forward Tyson Jost on waivers, The Athletic‘s Michael Russo was first to report on Friday.

Jost, 24, has three points (all assists) in 12 games with the Wild this year. He’s under contract at a $2 million cap hit through the end of the 2022–23 season, at which point he’ll be eligible to become a restricted free agent.

Jost is the only NHL player currently available on the waiver wire. The San Jose Sharks previously waived defenseman Scott Harrington on Thursday, but he cleared and has since been assigned to the American Hockey League’s San Jose Barracuda.

The Colorado Avalanche originally selected Jost in the first round (No. 10 overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft. The 5’11” centre made his NHL debut with the Avalanche in 2016–17 and spent parts of six seasons with the team before being sent to Minnesota for Nico Sturm at the 2022 trade deadline.

While Sturm and the Avalanche went on to win the Stanley Cup, Jost played out the string with the Wild and scored two goals and six points in 21 games after the trade. He was held off the board in six playoff games with the Wild.

In 354 career NHL games over parts of seven regular seasons with Colorado and Minnesota, Jost has scored 47 goals and 112 points. He’s added six goals and 10 points in 46 playoff contests.

The Wild currently rank sixth in the NHL’s Central Division with a 7–8–2 record and 16 points through 17 games.
