Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced that the club has agreed to terms on a two-year, entry-level contract with 2020 second-round draft pick Luke Tuch, starting in 2024-25.

Tuch spent the 2023-24 campaign with the Boston University Terriers in the NCAA where he registered 10 goals and 20 assists for 30 points in 39 games, he ranked sixth in goals, assists and points among Terriers’ skaters. Tuch spent the last four years with Boston University where he tallied 31 goals and 40 assists for 71 points in 121 career games. During the 2022-23 campaign, he helped lead the Terriers to an NCAA Hockey East Championship alongside Canadiens defenseman Lane Hutson.

The Syracuse, New York product was originally selected No. 47 overall in the 2020 NHL Draft and during his draft year spent the season with the U.S. National U18 Team as part of the National Team Development Program. He scored 15 goals and 30 points in 47 games.

Internationally, Tuch has represented Team USA on two separate occasions once being at the Under-17 World Hockey Championships where he registered one goal in five games and the next during the IIHF Men’s World Championships where he scored one goal in four games.

The 22-year-old is the younger brother of Buffalo Sabres forward Alex Tuch and also grew up playing in the Buffalo Jr. Sabres program as a teenager.

Montreal has now signed four players from that 2020 draft class which includes Canadiens defenseman Kaiden Guhle and Laval Rocket forward Sean Farrell and goaltender Jakub Dobes.

The Canadiens have a 30-36-14 record as they get ready to face off against the Detroit Red Wings tonight and Tuesday in a set of back-to-back games to round out the 2023-24 regular season.
