The Nashville Predators have swung the Anthony Beauvillier trade with the Chicago Blackhawks. News of the deal broke Thursday afternoon, which is a day before the trade deadline. Chicago acquired a fifth-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.

Blackhawks Make Anthony Beauvillier Trade

Beauvillier has played for the New York Islanders, Vancouver Canucks and the Blackhawks over his eight-year NHL career. The Sorel-Tracy, Quebec native has four goals and 10 assists in 45 games this season between the Canucks and the Blackhawks. Beauvillier has a Corsi for of 44.9 and a relative Corsi of 1.4. He was traded earlier in his career to the Canucks as part of the Bo Horvat trade.

The 26-year-old has 115 goals and 128 assists for 243 points in 535 career games. New York originally drafted Beauvillier in the first round, 28th overall of the 2014 NHL Draft.

Beauvillier has represented his home country of Canada on the international level. He won a bronze medal at the World U-18 tournament and was part of the 2016 IIHF World Junior and 2018 IIHF World Championship squads.

His best season was when scored 21 goals in the 2017-18 season. Beauvillier has seen his production decrease over the last few seasons, but is looking to turn things around in the Music City with Nashville.

What It Means

The veteran forward does have a price tag of $4.125 million on his for the rest of the 2023-24 season. However, Nashville general manager Barry Trotz feels he can get something out of Beauvillier for the rest of the season.

He can score goals when his game is right and can slot into the middle-six of the Predators’ lineup. The team earned its shot to make a push for a Stanley Cup Playoff spot. This is despite many thinking the Predators would be an also-ran and a likely seller at the deadline.
