The New York Islanders announced Friday that they have signed forward Cam Thiesing to a two-year, entry-level contract that begins in the 2024-25 season.

Thiesing spent the 2023-24 campaign with the Ohio State Buckeyes in the NCAA where he was an alternate captain and notched nine goals and seven assists for 16 points in 31 games. Last season, he scored a career-high 15 goals, leading all Buckeyes skaters. During his freshman season, 2021-22, he put up career-highs in points with eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points in 37 games, he ranked third among Buckeyes skaters in points.

Before Thiesing’s tenure with the Buckeyes, he spent two seasons with the Green Bay Gamblers in the United States Hockey League (USHL) where he tallied 31 goals and 41 assists for 72 points in 94 games. Prior to that, the Franklin, Tennesse product played for the Chippewa Steel of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and recorded 13 goals and 26 assists for 39 points in 54 games, he added 96 penalty minutes that season. Thiesing’s season earned him All-Rookie Second Team honors and was named to the NAHL All-Midwest All-Rookie Team.

Thiesing will likely join the Islanders’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate the Bridgeport Islanders on an ATO. Bridgeport currently ranks sixth in the Atlantic Division with a 20-33-6-1 record and 47 points through 60 games and 12 games remaining.
