The New York Rangers announced that they have place right wing Kaapo Kakko on IR. He will be out at least 7 days. Additionally, the team has recalled center Morgan Barron from the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Ryan Strome also remains out due to COVID protocols.

Kakko place on IR; Barron recalled

During the first period of the Rangers 3-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens, Kakko got involved with defenseman Alexander Romanov and went down pretty hard. The 20 year-old came back in the same shift to take a run at Romanov. This is where the injury is believed to have occurred.

Barron, 22, picked up no points in 4 preseason games. He still has plenty of promise and will get a chance on either the third of fourth line to prove it. So far in two games for the Wolf Pack, Barron has two goals.
